Providing Data

When doing consulting I might have asked you to send me some data for analysis (most prominent example: oracle trace files).

I will provide the required access details (host-name, user-name and password) to you.

Using SCP

I will provide a host-name, user-name and password which you can use to SCP (Secure Copy) your data onto my system. This should work with any UNIX command line scp client or pscp for Windows from the PuTTY distribution.

Note: WinSCP will not work with the SCP protocol for security reasons. If you want to use WinSCP, use the SFTP protocol instead.

Using SFTP

The same host-name, user-name and password can also be used with SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol). This should work with any UNIX command line sftp client and with WinSCP.
